It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emmy Berghuis-Bloem, who went to be with the Lord last night at the age of 95.
Emmy was a true pioneer of the European Deaf Christian movement. She received the inspiring vision of a boat steered by Jesus, which later became the symbol and logo of the European Deaf Christian Alliance (EDCA).
She was also one of the founders of the Dutch Deaf Christian Fellowship (DCF Netherlands), helping to establish a Christian organization with a strong evangelical vision.
Throughout her life, Emmy faithfully shared the Gospel and led many deaf people to discover life with Jesus Christ. She loved speaking about God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, and her faith touched countless lives across Europe.
We thank God for her faithful service, her vision, and her legacy, which will continue to inspire future generations.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7
Rest in peace, dear Emmy. We will never forget your love for Jesus and for the Deaf Christian community.
